Registration is now open for a free 2-part series on modeling heat pipes using FloCAD and Thermal Desktop. The first session will cover the basics of using FloCAD's Pipe object for system-level modeling of heat pipes.  This thermal-only approach for heat pipe simulation will be discussed along with a brief explanation of the numerical approach and what performance data is available to the user. Demonstrations will highlight the process for creating heat pipes and the types of geometries that can be used.

The second session covers the modeling of gas charged heat pipes such as end-of-life gas loaded fixed conductance pipes (FCHPs) and variable conductance heat pipes (VCHPs).  Methods used to model and track the gas front location will be discussed in detail along with VCHP sizing and reservoir modeling. Demonstrations will be included for both gas loaded FCHPs and VCHPs.

Knowledge of fluid modeling is not required, however a FloCAD license is required to model heat pipes..

Recommended prerequisites: Introduction to Thermal Desktop
